Enjoy the green space
With the Durdham and Clifton Downs just a stone's throw away there's acres and acres of open space to enjoy. To experience some of the best views in the whole of Bristol visit the Sea Walls end, overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Leigh Woods and the Severn Estuary with amazing far-reaching views.
If you're a nature lover the 400 year old Badock's Wood is home to thriving wildlife, meadow and streams. Not forgetting Blaise Castle Estate, whose 19th century mansion is surrounded by pathways and play areas which are ripe for exploring.
Visit the village
Though the wider suburb as we know it was mostly developed in the 1920s and 30s, parts of Westbury-on-Trym village itself date back centuries. A snapshot of that history can be seen in its 15th century gatehouse, the legacy of a former 13th century college which sits on College Road. The high street is home to a selection of restaurants, pubs and small shops for all your day-to-day essentials. Definitely worth a visit.
Get cosy in the Orpheus
One of Bristol's more intimate cinemas, the Orpheus is loved far and wide for its friendly staff, three cosy screens and surprising low price tag. Book in advance to avoid disappointment and, if you have little ones in your life, join them for Saturday morning Kids Club at £2 entry.
Head to the zoo
Home to over 400 species of exotic and endangered animals from all of the world, plus over 100,000 plants in their botanical gardens, the Bristol Zoo is certainly a rare find. There's lots to keep little ones entertained, from adventure playgrounds to aerial ropes course. And in the summer months their Friday twilight openings offer the chance to explore the zoo as the sun goes down, complete with live music and entertainment. Simply unmissable.
Grab a bite to eat
There's a healthy selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs to keep you well-fed in Westbury-on-Trym and the surrounding area. Drop into Coffee #1 for your daily caffeine fix, then there's the ever-popular Prego or Groupo Lounge and a selection of well-regarded pubs. There's only one question. How are you going to choose?
