Registered Nurse
The role
At St Monica Trust, Nurses hold a lot of responsibility and have the authority to make important care decisions. You’ll be taking the lead and caring for residents in a relaxing, homely environment for a much longer time than you would get the chance to in other settings.

We offer a highly regarded preceptorship scheme that supports those nearing their official qualification. We also encourage CPD to enhance the skill set of our teams. Our capability guide shows the different levels of nursing, with a clear career path that combines various rewards, competencies and skills.

FAQs
We have tried to make the online application process as straightforward as possible, but appreciate that from time to time, things don’t always go as planned. If you require any assistance, please contact the HR Recruitment team via email: recruitment@stmonicatrust.org.uk or telephone: 0117 949 4091. They will be happy to assist you.
Our application process is straight-forward and encourages you to provide us with the information the recruiting manager will want to know about you.
When you find a role that suits your requirements, please fill in the online application form. If you need any support or if you require any assistance due to a disability, please contact the HR department. They’ll be more than happy to help you.
After the deadline, the applications will be reviewed, and if successful you will be invited to interview. Due to a large volume of applications, we regret that we may be unable to provide specific individual feedback to those who were unsuccessful.
Once all interviews have taken place, the hiring team will deliberate and be in touch to let you know of the outcome.
Your details will be processed for recruitment and selection purposes and are stored for a period of 12 months under the Data Protection Act 2018.
Our Bank team work casual hours as and when it suits them and us. There is no minimum number of hours that you’d need to work as such, however do think about how much availability you could offer us. You have the choice of whether to accept the shifts that we offer you. Perfect for fitting in with your busy lifestyle and other commitments.
We make sure that we recruit the best people for each role. Part of this involves requesting references, a DBS check (depending on the role) and you bringing in a range of documents for us to look through. Once we are happy with our necessary checks, your manager will then contact you to plan your start date. This process can take a few weeks, however we will be on-hand throughout to offer assistance if needed and will endeavour to make the process as speedy as possible.
Some of our roles require applicants to declare any criminal convictions and cautions. They will also be asked to complete a new DBS check (even if they already have one). If this applies to you, you must declare any convictions or cautions on your application form. This does not always prevent you from working for us, however if you are then successful, we would follow a process to assess whether you are suited to the role and whether your previous history causes us any concern or risk to our colleagues, residents, or customers.
At present we do not have a sponsorship licence. However, we may look into this in the future.
Yes, we offer some selected apprenticeships. We do not currently offer formal work experience, but may be able to accommodate requests. Get in touch with a member of our HR Recruitment team to find out more. We also offer placements to Student Nurses as part of their course. These will need to be organised through the Care Home Managers and your university or college.
We normally only employ people aged 16 or over. From 16, you can work in our Catering, Housekeeping, Laundry and Support Administration teams (with some limitations about the machinery that you can use in each).
In most cases, people delivering care to vulnerable adults need to be 18 years of age. However, it is possible to work in care if you are 16 or 17 providing that you are undertaking a formal qualification such as a Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care.
Not necessarily. Each of our job adverts will specify whether experience is required and if so, how much. We frequently recruit people without experience providing that we can see their potential and know that they are otherwise suited to the role. The best thing to do is to check each job advert to see what we are looking for. If you are not sure, give us a call and we can talk through the experience you do have.
You can find our current vacancies here. Click on each role to find out more and apply.
We believe our residents should have choice and control, dignity and respect, health and comfort, peace of mind and be able to live in a positive environment with social engagement.
Put simply, we’re here for people. Not profits. It’s been that way since we opened our doors in 1925. Our board of Trustees makes sure our original endowment fund is only ever used for the benefit of others.
You can find out more about our values here.
