MUD, glorious MUD!
It was a case of “MUD, glorious MUD!” for the St Monica Trust’s learning and development team as they brought home a Gold Award at the 2018 Training Journal Awards.
Best Operational Programme
The team’s Mandatory Update Day (MUD) training programme won the award for the Best Operational Programme in a category which saw the Trust up against Tesco, Hugo Boss and Towergate.
The Trust’s Learning and Development Manager, Jo Arkison’s personal contribution was also recognised with a bronze award in the Learning and Development Professional of the Year category.
The judges said: “Joanna Arkison’s vision, calm and steady determination has led to a programme that has fully understood the needs of her audience as well as deliver a creative solution to the constraints of delivery.
“A classic example of a programme designed to deliver a meaningful solution rather than tick a development box.”
Very best practitioners in L&D
The awards were presented at a glittering Gala Dinner in the Pavilion at the Tower of London on Tuesday 4 December, which recognised the very best practitioners in learning and development today.
The Trust’s Learning and Development Manager, Jo Arkison said: “We are overwhelmed by the recognition that both the team and I have received for the training that we deliver.
“I am so proud of how far we have come as a team and the resilience and creativity that the team demonstrates on a daily basis.”
Training academy opening
The St Monica Trust will be investing in the future workforce of the UK care sector by opening a Training and Development academy in 2019.
The state-of-the-art facility will provide career development for St Monica Trust colleagues, as well as helping other care organisations develop their own staff and providing younger people with the skills necessary to enter the care sector.
