Get a taste of The Chocolate Quarter this Easter
The Chocolate Quarter is hosting a week of fun events this Easter, starting on Saturday March 31 with a one day chocolate festival and followed by a programme of free community events for all the family.
Artisan chocolatiers
Once the site of the famous Somerdale Factory, which produced some of the best-known chocolate bars in the world, St Monica Trust’s new development will be brimming with local artisan chocolatiers during the festival.
Each one will be showcasing luxury products and sweet treats available for those looking for the perfect Easter gift.
Artisan chocolatiers attending include Bristol favourite Zara’s Chocolates, Park Street staple Mrs Pott’s Chocolate House, Ooh! Chocolata and The Chocolate Tart.
Pinkman’s bakery will be exhibiting a special chocolate themed doughnut stall and The Chocolate Quarter’s own B Block pizzeria will be baking their signature homemade brownies and cakes fresh from the oven.
Easter egg hunt and chocolate tasting
Activities for all the family will be running throughout the building, with a special Easter egg hunt, chocolate themed art and craft workshops and even the chance to sample a warm candle cocoa massage at Tigerlily Nail Salon.
Visitors will also be able to learn all about the fascinating history of The Chocolate Quarter in the on-site cinema, with archive footage and chocolate tasting sessions from former workers at the Somerdale Factory.
A fun-packed week of community events
Following the chocolate festival will be an exciting week of free community events taking place within the development between Monday 2 April and Friday 6 April.
The events are for the whole family and range from storytelling workshops and pottery classes, to dance workshops, produced by Wyldwood Arts.
Storytelling workshops and much more
For families there will be storytelling workshops and performances by the Adventure Bureau, and a special performance from DragonBird Theatre to suit younger children aged 0-5.
The cinema will be hosting short films and talks from two former employees of the Somerdale factory, the self titled Chocolate Dinosaurs, which will include memorabilia and a chocolate tasting.
The Chocolate Quarter’s state-of-the-art pottery studio will be hosting a variety of themed painting and pottery workshops suitable for everyone, led by ceramicists Allen Richards and Emily Waugh, alongside artist in residence Joe Tymkow.
Similarly, The Chocolate Quarter dance studio will be giving fun and lively dance lessons for children and families all week.
B Block Pizzeria will be open as normal, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the festival.
The Chocolate Quarter’s newest offering, Somer Dining will also be open for lunch, serving the best of British bistro, as well as afternoon tea.
Limited spaces are available for each session during the week of community events and can be pre-booked by emailing hello@wyldwoodarts.co.uk.
