REFLECT
- Mindfulness has become a very popular concept over the last decade, helping people to feel 'in the moment' and be intensely aware of what they are sensing and feeling. This article from mindful.org showcases 12 powerful women within the mindfulness movement and shares their reflections on their experiences of being female leaders.
CONNECT
- Womankind is a therapy centre in Bristol exclusively for women. They have seen an increase in women struggling with anxiety, isolation and poor mental health during the pandemic and have created a free online women’s support group. The group aims to connect women online for them to talk about issues and make sense of their feelings.
LEARN
- Bristol University hosts the Feminist Archive South, a facility that houses a vast array of materials and resources that record the development of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the south of England from the 1960s onwards. From Dora Russell’s peace caravan to the oral history project, the archive has a truly impressive collection. The Bristol Cable also produced this fantastic article about the archive and the women involved.
- If you want to learn more about the women’s rights movement then you can access a free online course from The Royal Holloway, University of London and the UK Parliament. The module is available on the Future Learn website and is free to access, although you will need to register for a free Future Learn account here.
DO
- As restrictions begin to ease, many people are finding that after 18 months at home they aren’t quite as strong or as fit as they were. The Verywell Fit website has an article that shows some key exercises for women over 50 that focus on strength exercises to keep your body stronger and more functional.
FUN
- Tracey Ullman is definitely a funny woman and her comedy show on BBC 1 has been a huge success. If you feel like a good laugh then try watching this range of sketches on BBC iPlayer.
