Welcome to Signpost for the week of 17 August. This is usually the time that many people would be going away on holiday. As many of us can’t this year, this week’s Signpost is here to help, bringing you some holiday experiences at home.

REFLECT
- If you look at any culture throughout history, you’ll find that their traditions include some form of meditation or mindfulness practice. This article from Jack Canfield shares some of the other interesting ways people around the world cultivate mindfulness to maximise their happiness and fulfilment in life.

- Do you fancy globetrotting from the comfort of your own home? There are thousands of video cameras connected to the internet called “webcams” that can show you glimpses from all over the world here. If you like to be beside the seaside why not take a trip to Page Beach in Tanzania, Lanikai, Hawaii or Es Canar beach in Ibiza. If you prefer a city break try Times Square, New York, or Melbourne, Australia.

- Have you head about the Ukrainian flower crowns? Take a trip to the Ukraine to learn more about the traditions behind these amazing headpieces that are a mainstay at festivals and weddings in the country.

- The world’s tallest roller coaster is the Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. It reaches over 456 feet and runs at 128 miles an hour! If that hasn’t already put you off, why not watch experience the ride through this video.
