Age UK Bristol

Project name: Age Friendly Employment

The project will support older workers by offering workshops to businesses focused on recruitment, retention, and retirement, with particular attention to those facing health challenges, caregiving responsibilities, or other barriers to employment. These workshops will emphasise the value older adults bring to reducing skills gaps and encourage businesses to commit to being age-friendly, fostering continuous improvement.

For job seekers aged 55 and above, the project will provide confidence-building support, guidance on interpreting job adverts, assistance with applications, CV preparation, and interview skills enhancement. Additionally, it will encourage workers to plan for the social and financial aspects of retirement and promote volunteering as a meaningful activity that can ease transitions into and out of paid work.

The plans include running a variety of workshops and hosting larger events to maximise engagement and impact.

We are thrilled to receive this grant from St Monica Trust, to enable us to work with employers and people over 55 years to help make Bristol a city of age-friendly employers
